2015 | Skripsi | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalAbstract The Role of Soft Power on Russian Policy Against Ukraine’s Euromaidan Revolution In late 2013, hundred of Ukrainian students arranged great protest in the Maidan Square of Kiev following the posponement of Ukraine bilateral agreement with European Union called Association Agreement. Meanwhile, the ratification would make great change in Ukraine as she has to do some principal changes not only in the economic aspect, but also political aspect. This agreement would be the confirmation of Ukraine’s neutral international position after being in the two shadows of Europe and Russian sphere. Since then, none expected that this protest would burgeon into the greater problems in the next few years. This conflict would never be happened without Russia’s effective intervention. Russia’s succeed to strengthen its influences in several potential areas of Ukraine using its ideational power as a foreign policy in facing this revolution called soft power of the Orthodoxism and the ideology of sovereign democracy. Using this strategy, supported by West’s lack of response, Russia succeed to take control of Crimea teritory and urging military campaign in Donetsk and Luhansk involving the local defense military force. Therefore, Russia had maintained its influence and driven away Ukraine’s intention to be the next European ally in ex-Soviet area for some moment.
