ABSTRACT Bejiharjo Tourism Village is located in the district Karangmojo, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. This tourism object established in 2010 with its flagship destination Pindul Cave, Bejiharjo was able to achieve the award from the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2012. The potential of the Bejiharjo tourism village besides Pindul Cave still has some other attraction, either natural, artificial, or culture. With the condition of the tourism growing very fast, it also has the impact on social and cultural conditions in Bejiharjo. Social and cultural impact as what then arise as a result of the tourism development. This study identified any social and cultural impact that caused as a result of the development of tourism in the Bejiharjo Tourism Village, and presenting it in the form of qualitative descriptive writing. Research conducted by doing observation, interview and collecting secondary data, then identified and followed by analyzing the data. These results indicate that the development of tourism in the Bejiharjo Tourism Village an impact on the social and cultural lifein the area. The existence of tourism impacts on social and cultural changes, both positive and negative. Economic change is felt by the residents of Bejiharjo itself. In addition, other social conditions such as the availability of jobs and reduced crime of theft and alcohol among youngster is also the impact felt by citizens of Bejiharjo. But the existence of art and culture that place is now actually not experiencing any growth or decline. Historical tourism potential Monument at Sudirman also well-treated. The social impact from the developing Bejiharjo tourism village which was considered positive can be maintained and could possibly be developed so that its impact can be felt by the public. While the social and cultural impact that can negatively assessed in press or reduced. Reducing the negative impact s can be done through education and cooperation of all stakeholders to sit together to find the best way to minimize all impacts that are considered not good.
