ABSTRACT The objective of this research is to explain the dynamic of the introduction of Australia in the Asian Century White Paper and at the same time attempting to measure the role and evolution of perception of Australia Labor Party (ALP) towards Asia. Moreover, the research tries to analyze rise of Asia towards the Asian Century and its significance for Australia and their national interest. In order to answer the research problem, the use of perception theory, national interest theory, and foreign policy theory is needed. Perception theory in this study is intended to explain the dynamic of ALP leaders view towards Asia. Meanwhile national interest and foreign policy theory is used to measure the importance of Asian Century for Australia as a nation. Methodologically, the type of this research is literature research. It is using qualitative data analysis techniques. While the method of data collecting through library research. The research finds out that the ALP leaders were convinced that Asia is the key for Australia’s national interest. Furthermore, Australia in the Asian Century White Paper was launched to serve as guideline for Australia and represent its foreign policy which stands for deeper and broader connection in the region.
