The research itself will only focus on one certain case study, Lapindo mudflow. As we understood that disaster has been disrupts the functioning of a community, but at the same time it could bring the opportunity, especially for women to be more empowered. United Nation Development Program (UNDP) has also promoted the women empowerment after disaster, as it written on the article five of eight point agenda, UNDP, 2007. Based on that, this undergraduate thesis will examines two ways of women to achieve the empowerment in post-disaster recovery by using the qualitative method and two concepts, which is economic recovery and women economic empowerment in postdisaster. By doing the economic recovery in post-disaster it helps women to get their access back to the capital and at the same time they could start to show their ability, get involved in decision-making process, and able to work with the other actors, such as government, NGOs, and company, as well as build a community.
