People realize that the services provided by the government can not cover the whole of society in Indonesia, especially for the elderly. These conditions make their own communities seeking social services for the elderly through community-based services so that the elderly can obtain and access to services. Community-based social services are also carried out by the people in RW 22 National Housing of Condongcatur. Housing Condongcatur the first housing in Yogyakarta that was founded in 1987. Today the majority of the elderly community Housing and the need for social services will increase. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive approach. The study was conducted in RW 22 Region National Housing (Housing) of Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The decision informants using purposive sampling. Informants in this study were 10 people consisting of elderly, group management, and the clinic. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of community-based social services initiated by community groups in RW 22 National Housing of Condongcatur views of targets and objectives of the program were achieved by both groups in terms of quality, quantity, and time and the factors that influence the effectiveness of service social given by community groups. The discussion of the effectiveness of community-based social services in RW 22 Housing through the provision of social services in the form of elderly neighborhood health center, mental spiritual and religious services, and fitness services, and other services. Social services are aimed at making the elderly in RW 22 can meet their needs and social functioning. The effectiveness of social services provided by community groups both at RT and RW can not be separated from the support and participation of the people in the neighborhood itself. Elderly social services performed by groups in RW 22 so far has benefited the lives of the elderly, but still need to be optimized so that social services can be run more effectively. For that in pursuing a more effective social services needed cooperation from various parties, both internal and external, and maximize the potential of which is owned by the people of RW 22.
