The Roles of the Government in Increasing the International Tourist Arrivals:The Case of Malaysia

2015 | Skripsi | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalABSTRACT The issue of tourism is one of vital aspects in international relations because many countries use it to make decisions about increasing foreign exchange, creating peace, providing employment opportunities, equalizing development and promoting the potential of each country to the international world. One of the indicators of the successful tourism development in Malaysia is its increased International Tourist Arrivals (ITA) which makes it rank among the world’s top-10 tourism in 2012. Its success as a country, which has managed to bring International Tourist Arrivals, has successfully attracted the attention of various parties such as the actors, the government, and the world academicians. Its growth in the International Tourist Arrivals is highly significant. This makes the author interested in discussing Malaysia’s high ITA, which cannot be separated from the major role of the government of Malaysia them. Tourism is a crucial factor for a country's foreign exchange resources. Careful management is required so that tourism can thrive. The management of the tourism sector is very complex, involving a variety of political actors of the country. Policy concerning tourism also cannot be separated from the decision-making element of political nature. In other words, tourism can be said to be part of politics. Political aspects can be seen of how power is used by the public organizations in managing the tourism. The main instrument used by the Government's which includes all types of organization communities ranging from Central Government departments to small tourism unit run by local governments.
