2015 | Skripsi | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalABSTRACT South China Sea dispute has been a main concern ASEAN over decades, since most of Southeast Asian countries are the claimants in this very challenging dispute, including Philippines. The dynamic of South China Sea dispute, especially its tremendous impacts to security in sta bility in the reg ion has become the ma jor reason to the variety of c laiman ts’ policy towards this dispute. The rising China which is the threats imposed by this country in responding the dispute is one of the great factors which have esca lated the tension. In 1995, China occupied the Mischief Reef which has been claimed by Philippines previously. It was the first direct aggression imposed by China to the Philippines after China and Vietnam War over Paracel Islands. This China’s agg ression by stationing its military forces has triggered the Philippines to map out a set of security policy to respond China. One of the strategies which are recently attempted by Philippines is strengthening its security alliance with United States of America through Manila Declaration 2011 and Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement 2014. Therefore, the author would like to rese a rch up on: “Why did Ph ilipp ines establish this policy of strengthening its security alliance with United States of America in the South China Sea dispute since 2011?
