Abstract There are many literaturs that discuss about Hasan Sochib and his dictatorship in Banten. With his capacity as a local strongmen, Hasan Sochib usually used violence. However, the news about the violence had never been published in local pers in Banten. Not only that, the bad news that are related to the Government of Banten is also very rarely found in local media of Banten when Hasan Sochib was still alive. Based on things like that this research on how to control local media against Sochib Hasan was carried out. Research on Banten has indeed been a lot done but there has not been specifically discussed about Hasan Sochib’s control over the local media of Banten. The findings of this research is Hasan Sochib and his group also doing violence to the local media of Banten on its own. The violence is not only personal, but also structural. Despite doing various forms of violence, however the character journalists and local media’s institution also contribute to make the violence continue to run. Pull interesting business interests in the realm of local media institutions also became the dominant factor in the violence persist.o f course all forms of violence is not in line of democracy .Considering the media is the fourth pillar of democracy itself that neutrality of the media absolutely a must. Because of violence that occurred has led to a variety of things such as low security to reporters , local media institutions that favors as well as poverty and inequality that is not an important issue in the community of Banten .Presentation of the results of research with a method of this case study framework by the theory of power with violence and the strong local. The theory is considered relevant mengkerangkai how the violence happened and eventually have an implication on various things . This research is conducted by a method of case studies that are considered relevant to answer the question of this research .
