ABSTRACT Counselling is much related with interpersonal communication. In this research, counselling was perform to the People Living with HIV and AIDS(PLHIV) as subjects, in whom for most people not well understood. This research was performed to observe the role of supervising in helping PLHIV patients. In interpersonal communication, counselling for PLHIV-infected subject means evaluating several important aspects, which are openness, trust, intimacy, empathy, and supports. Ethnography, naturally observed as evaluating human activities. It is resulting in a detailed description from concrete experiences with specific culture and social background. With the ethnography method, observation and recording was performed directly in order to evaluate routine behaviour of all participated subjects. In this research, ethnography is considered as the most appropriate method to observe, evaluate and record the counselling activities of the PLHIV subjects. This research was also evaluate the dynamics of the counselling and their partners during supervising via interpersonal communication. Key words: Ethnography, interpersonal communication, counselling of PLHIV, dynamic,openness, trust, intimacy.
