Representasi Multikulturalisme dalam Film Indonesia:(Analisis Semiotik Film Pendek Cheng cheng Po)

ABSTRACT Movie is a kind of mass media that can be useful to spread information to the society, either with short movie. The source of the information can be from the movie’s elements itself, such as scene, shot, plot, and characterization. The subject of the movie that is represented by the movie is varies based on where the movie is created. One of the qualified subject that can be made is about multiculturalism, considering that Indonesia is a multicultural country. One of the short movie which have subject about multiculturalism is Cheng Cheng Po. This research has purpose to see how multiculturalism is represented by Cheng Cheng Po. This research uses semiotic analytic. Signs that represent multiculturalism is interpreted using the method. The result is multiculturalism about culture diversity can be represented by short movie, Cheng Cheng Po, through its element even though there is a preferable culture.
