Abstract This graduating paper was discussed about three extended families who owned floral decorator business on Ahmad Jazuli Street, Yogyakarta. They were Purwo’s, Kusumo’s, and Puspo’s extended families. All of them ran same business; floral decorator business, however because of the traded things were the same, so the competition occured became more tighter, particularly on attracted the costumers. In order to figure out their way attracted the costumers, the researcher made one problem formulation; how the strategy of three extended families in maintaining their floral decorator business located on Ahmad Jazuli Street Yogyakarta? Meanwhile, the researcher used qualitative method which was case study to support the research. The choice of utilizing case study in this research was caused more by the researcher’s attempt to understand contemporary phenomenon occurred intensely and factual. The finding recorded from this research was all of three extended families who ran floral decorator business on Ahmad Jazuli Street were used their internal function of their family as their business asset on maintaining and competing their business. After they used internal function of their family maximally, they used external function such as organization outside the family, colleagues, and neighbours. Moreover, the researcher also found that authority was not only found in large institution such as nation, but also found in small basic institution such as family. Particularly on family who ran floral decorator business, where the researcher noticed several authority interactions, such as strategy formulation, family forum, lobby, work evaluation, and decision-making.
