ABSTRACT This work examines Australian policies towards asylum seekers, especially those enacted under Tony Abbott. Waves upon waves of asylum seekers have come and are still to come to Australia, and numerous policies have been carried through to contain problems associated therewith, but the problems persist. This work attempts to compare policies enacted under Tony Abbott, to those enacted under his predecessors like Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard, among others. Besides said comparison, one shall meet in this work analysis of Australian policies towards asylum seekers from a perspective of human rights. The Australian governments and some Australian citizens deem the increase of asylum seekers in their country an impediment to Australian national stability and security.
