ABSTRACT The Internet is one of the technology revelations that can change the newsroom drastically. The Internet imposes the unification of conventional media and new media that can produce a new system in the news making. Most of the big media companies in Indonesia entered this online domain in the early 2000s and reached its pinnacle in around 2010 when the Internet penetration in Indonesia was growing higher and higher. In this period of time, Goal Indonesia (http://www.goal.com/id-ID/) came into the scene. Since then, Goal Indonesia has been able to develop into one of the biggest football news websites in Indonesia. This success is not only built by their highly good online media management, but also its effectiveness and efficiency. But Goal Indonesia has done it in an extreme way, that is, all of the media management process in Goal Indonesia has been done with the Internet as the main channel – recruitment, training, news making, communication, etc. All of these are inter-connected with e-mails, mailing lists, or chatting in a computer and smartphone. This is called full internet-based management media because Goal Indonesia has no office physically. The management process in this so-called virtual office is often named as virtual management. From that point, this research started, aiming to analyze how Goal Indonesia uses this virtual management based on the four elements of management concept: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The outcome of this research shows that even though this virtual management is able to work properly and efficiently, this system still needs further improvements.
