Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta is a five-starred hotel with historic heritage, which combined the modern comfort and Yogyakarta Palace tradition. On 1 February 2014, Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta had decided to leave Santika Indonesia, the hotel chain, and tried to manage the hotel independently. Transforming hotel management is not an easy case. When it was managed by Santika Indonesia, Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta just needed to apply all the rules and do the hotel operations, which had made by Santika Indonesia. Now, Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta has to start all the details of hotel management from the early beginning, state the new objections and goals, also redesign all hotel materials. Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta is now undergoing a hotel management transition. With this research, the writer tried to identify the role of Public Relations upon the hotel management transition after the affiliation withdrawal from Santika Indonesia. The reaserch used case study method in order to observe the involvement and role of Public Relations upon the management transition. This method allowed the writer to involve directly inside the management, interact with the people in management, and observe the management transition. According to the result of the research, Public Relations of Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta are doing the role as Public Relations manager and technician upon the management transition. It means Public Relations in Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta are expected to involve in decision-making process of Public Relations activites and also to implement and apply the activities of Public Relations in Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta, which have been decided.
