Abstract Political participation is a broad sense includes the activity of support or involved in an governments as well as the activity of pertaining to reprobation or opposition to the government. Individual life political participation in politics, affecting a perception either positive and negative. Perception is process of receiving, select, organizes, get to decode test and respond to the stimulus of the five senses or data. Perception is a process of assessing so having the nature of the evaluative and tend to subjective. Started from a key question: how civil perception against political participation purnawirawan in Indonesia following reform? Research qualitative case study drawn up with the methods aims to know perception against political and civic participation purnawirawan impact of existence purnawirawan in politics after reform. Take the case of research in Indonesia following political participation purnawirawan reform. The results of research into perception of civil against the existence of former in politics really shows you three things; first, perception civil against former post reform has really shifted over the course of the process of democratization and demilitarization in Indonesia. Finally, the post-reform political participation affect perceptions retired Civil Society in Indonesia. Not only in terms of perception, retired political participation and persistence of militarism and militarization affect the course of the process of consolidation of democracy in Indonesia and demilitarization efforts in various aspects of post-reform.
