ABSTRACT Research In Motion have become a leading company in the field of communication technology. Its BlackBerry was a favorite communication device in many countries. Research In Motion with its BlackBerry dominated the global smartphone market share for a few years. That succes promotes Research In Motion to grow as a big Multinational Company. The success of Research In Motion selling its Blackberry product also occurred in Indonesia. Even in this country Blackberry sales dominated smartphone market share for years. This fact drove Indonesia as one of the most important market for Research In Motion. However, Research In Motion had experienced some conflict with the Indonesian government in carrying out its business activities. The Indonesian government issued a number of policies to manage the business of Research in Motion in the country. This paper aims to describe the dynamics of the relationship between State and Multinational Corporation in the case of Indonesia and Research In Motion. The magnitude of the BlackBerry market share in Indonesia and the Indonesian government's policies towards Research In Motion were at issue. Both factors have implications for the Research In Motion investment activity in Indonesia, which in John Dunning‟s term, they do in the form of Support Investment.
