ABSTRAK Progress in technology and science contributed in the field of banking especially in the form of payments or transactions. Debit card now become a new way to transactions without using money. This debit card technology have many users because of the facilities offered are quite promising. This kind of lifestyle also experienced by students, more particularly immigrants are students of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Gadjah Mada. This research have a purpose to see the impact of what they feel when using a debit card affect to their consumption behavior. The objective is (1) To determine what aspects of motivation and the background they do consume, (2) To determine the reason of the use of debit cards and what facilities they use when using a debit card (3) and to determine the impact of what they feel when using debit cards. This study uses qualitative methods to collect data - the data from the field using interview, observation and secondary data obtained through a variety of media. By using descriptive explanation i will explaining the problems that occurred in this study. Explain the data obtained during the research activities underway to provide clarity for those who read it. Based on the results of this study are positive and negative impacts felt by informants in their financial management. In a positive impact informants feel the comfort, convenience, and efficient in the use of debit cards. While the negative sense is the informant who have difficulty managing money, but it is not due entirely debit card, but rather the activities of their day-to-day consumption. Not only financial management, sociologically use debit cards also affect lifestyle informant. Informants indirectly and unconsciously after using a debit card and feel the comfort, more frequent informant consumption activities in the supermarket, minimarket and in stores that work together with the bank that provide debit card. While stores, supermarkets and other retail outlets that work together bank premises is a shop that is big enough and has a particular brand. Thus indirectly bring its own prestige for its buyers.
