ABSTRACT Gender inequity is often found in countries, societies, and household. It is also occur in a household of blind people which is the husband is blind and the wife has normal eyes. Culture of patriarchy that happens hereditary resulting woman always placed in domestic sphere. Woman is required for finishing all of household works that mostly complicated and need visual ability. Culture of patriarchy is also believed for blind people. Many blind men choose normal woman become partner of their life so all of housework can be done well. Reasercher uses Mansour Fakih perspective in assess the gender inequity in those household. Gender said equitable if there is no marginalization, subordination, stereotype, double burden, and violence in woman. Researcher also uses radical feminist theory for creates this research. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach for understanding phenomenon deeply and explaining research situation clearly. Informants retrieval techniques that used is proposif sample. Researcher chooses informant based on education level and type of work. Informant that observed are nine families, five blind couple and four comes from family whose husband blind and wife is normal. Researcher do participant observation for data collection technique then do direct interview and make documentation for proof of research. Result of interview then triangulationed with collected data when reasercher do participant observation. Researcher choose Yogyakarta city as location of this research because there are some organizations and social institutions that built by blind people. Based on fact, gender inequality happens in household of couple with blind husband and normal wife. Normal wife always forced to do all housework while the husband only works. If their economic condition is considered inadequate, the wife is forced to help her husband works. While working separation pattern that happens in household of blind couple is more flexible. Domination is not happened. Working separation pattern that happened in household of blind husband and normal wife shows gender inequality and indicate lame gender relation. Radical feminist theory occur in household of blind husband and normal wife but not occurred in household of blind wife and husband couple. Culture of patriarchy more adhere in household of blind husband and normal wife. Adhere working separation pattern is a result of lack gender education that they have. Therefore, gender education is needed for improve their knowledge. Keyword:Gender, patriarchy,blind family.
