Dramaturgi Peran Aktif Perempuan dalam Kegiatan Sosial Kemasyarakatan di Rt. 91, Rw. 25 Pringgokusuman

Nowadays, a wave of women rises of subordination happens all at once in many areas. For an example, women in RW 25 Pringgokusuman, Yogyakarta are really active in social communal activity. Thus activities such as Posyandu, Kerjabakti, jimpitan included activity formerly reserved for men are done by these women. This active role, indicates women in RW 25 Pringggokusuman as an empowered women or have even more power than men holds. Based on that, this research intends to unveil the background that encourages women in RW 25 Pringgokusuman to give tremendous contribution in socialcommunal activities. This research used the theatrical analogy of Dramaturgy by Erving Goffmanfor trying to understand this phenomenon from its frontstage and backstage. The Frontstage side is the performance thatis played by the women of RT 91 RW 25 Pringgokusuman to create an impression that they are empowered. The Backstage side is demonstrated to understand the reality of this phenomenon by knowing their reason of this dominant performance. The interview of five aspirants of RT 91 Rw 25 Pringgokusuman resulted in two trends. The results shows trend for those women who has child, has a harmonist relationship with their husband, and a stable economic condition, tren to act based on their responsibility of their job in any social activities.Meanwhile, for women that have contrary condition, the result indicates that loneliness and the lack of anu daily productive acitvity as their main reasons to be active in any activity in their society. Beside those two subyective factors originated from each informant, the arisan as a social control system turn became another reality of this phenomenon of women in Pringgokusuman. Arisan successfully binds people and obliges them to join in any social activities as a mobilization. Keyword : frontstage; backstage; role; women; social activity
