ABSTRACT Various discrimination experienced by transgender people in both the negative stereotypes and stigma, discrimination against its acceptance in society and discrimination in access to employment has spawned an organization that embodies the 10 point transgender community in Yogyakarta. The organization named the Association of Transgender Yogyakarta (IWAYO), present as a container to accommodate a variety of needs, interests, concerns and appreciation for transvestites in order to overcome the discrimination they experienced. This study aims to determine strategies IWAYO administrators in managing the organization and knows the organization's role in fighting for the rights and existence of transvestites. Qualitative research using a case study approach to examine the fit of this research. Case study approach is used to study, explain, and interpret a case that has its own peculiarities. IWAYO is a phenomenon that has certain peculiarities and uniqueness, where the legality of the MUI fatwa forbids transgender organizations and ordered to be eliminated, in fact IWAYO present it as a container for the rights of transgender In the management of the organization, IWAYO becomes coordinator of various activities in the struggle for transgender rights. Each board performs its functions and its role in accordance with jobdesk respectively. The management of organizations exist in acceptance socialization and electoral administrators and policy-making organization made the coordination function that is run by a board, activity committees, and representatives of each community member. Advocacy organizations are also equipped by divisions to overcome the problems that occur with external parties. The role of the organization strived to be able to fight for the transgender rights against negative stigma, acceptance in society and discrimination in access to employment. Mechanism that characterize the dynamics of the role of organizations such as the mechanism to get notary certificate, development program networks, advocacy programs and capacity building programs in IWAYO. IWAYO able to reduce the stigma of transvestites so gets a positive image in the community. Through the performance of various programs and capacity building is done, IWAYO has become a mediator for the rights and the struggle for existence of transvestites. By the organization in the fight for the rights and coordinate the activities, the transgender rights struggle and existence as human beings and citizens are not discriminated that could be achieved through IWAYO.
