ABSTRACT The study of multiculturalism is always be an interesting discussion topic especially in Indonesia that has many diversities of ethnic, religion and culture. The existing and developing diversity may provoke some conflicts. Indonesia consist of six religions namely Islam, Kristen Protestan, Katolik, Budha, Hindu and Konghucu. From those six religion can be more separate in to many cults. This is what definitely can lead to conflict between society and the State. The difference is often considered something unusual from the habits of generations. Similarly with Hare Khrisna community, the presence community that is based of a religion. Hare Khrisna community is a part of the Hindu mainstream, but on the other hand it is regarded different by most Hindus. Differences procedures Hare Khrisna community is in praying and the scripture. It is considered to be different from the mainstream Hindu’s way. Hare Khrisna community still exist and flourish in Indonesia until now, especially in Yogyakarta. It is certainly interesting to see the community be traced if it is considered deviant cult by some people. Of course there is the intervention role of the State to manage the differences between the Hindus in general with the Hare Khrisna community. Seeing Hare Khrisna community that still survive to this day raises a question as to how the State's efforts to manage the conflict between the mainstream Hindu and Hare Krishna so it does not cause conflict in society. The qualitative method which be in the form of case study is being used in this research. Primary data collected through direct and in-depth interviews with followers of Hare Krishna and Head of the Department of Religious Hindus in Yogyakarta as well as secondary data from books, the internet and the results of previous studies. This research uses the concept of minority within the minority which framed as the politics of identity and the concept of state-religion relations (secularists) as well as the concept of conflict as the analysis tool. The concept of minority within the minority itself explains what the Hare Krishna community as a minority group within a minority religious identity is also seen from the number of adherents in Indonesia. It is also to see the Hare Krishna with others and how the others see them, and the thing that distinguishes them from others. The concept of state-religion (secularists) want to explain the relationship between the state and religion in Indonesia, whether properly segregated or integrated into the government. The concept of a state of conflict explains how to manage diversity not to cause conflict in society. Diversity is often marred by conflicts arising from differences. But diversity is not always going to spark a conflict in the community. To be able to anticipate and resolve conflicts is certainly no attempt was made. This is consistent with the findings in this study, where there are efforts made by the State in resolving the conflict between Hare Krishna and Hindu mainstream. Efforts are made in the form of regulation in the form of Joint Agreement for the Hare Krishna community and other cults are able to appreciate the Hindu mainstream circuitry. Secondly, assimilation in the form of the Hare Krishna’s people engage in activities and religious ceremonies in temples. Third is the recognition of the legitimacy of a state that Hare Krishna is part of the Hindu mainstream religion. Efforts that made by the State are proven to dampen conflict and the relationship between Hare Krishna and Hindu mainstream.
