This new constitution bear a huge effect upon Japan’s defense posture, which shape it’s political security through this day. The existence of article 9 in said constitution shrinked Japan’s military power, limiting the military existance to self-defense power, and holding it from having military elements; such which owned by any normal country. This limitation appear to become a problem when the international condition surrounding Japan turned to be more and more unsecure. Thus, Japan’s defense posture need to be repaired. The comeback of Shinzo Abe as prime minister bring forth speculation that Japan will be more pro-military. On his first term as prime minister, back in 2006, Abe produced rightish policy, increasing patriotism as well as japan military power. Such policy became a factor contributing in his sudden shrinked popularity, brought him down from his premiership. On his second term, nevertheless, Abe still producing new policies on japan’s defense, something that actually had been planned ever since the publishing of Dynamic Defense Force concept in 2010. However, unlike before, this time Abe had succeded defending his premiership. This is happen because Abe has stronger position and legitimation than before, with the support of LDP as majority party who conquering all two chambers of parliament, and good public level of acceptance. The strength of Abe’s legitimation source also affected by the escalation of conflict in East Asia, causing better acceptance of military power. This case also shows that the possibility of public acceptance upon security issue—including the changing of constitution— will increasing in the future.
