ABSTRACK The existence of negative news about the performance of Banten Province Government, can bring a bad perspective for new province was formed in 2000. The negative reports, indicate that the Banten Province Government as a weak organization. The indirect impacts are public distrust in their government can be a threat to the wheel of government. Pubic relations choice media as a way to build a positive reputation for Banten Province Government. Increasing number of internet usage in Indonesia, make the public relations government use the internet as a tool of government activety. As well as public relations of government. Government utilizing one of derivatives of internet, that is website. The website address www.humasprotokol.bantenprov.go.id, is used as a tool to build communication and reputation Bante Province Government. This research was conducted using qualitative content analysis methods. The researcher using the coding sheet as a tool to conduct the research. On the coding sheets, the researcher used two analysis unit , substance and technical unit. Unit anlysis are reviewed to clarify of the emphasis in the study. Analysis results showed improvement of Banten Government reputation, consisting of identity and image. Activity in increasing reputation, conducted by social responsibility approaching and top management performance. Utilization of website as public relations media by the Banten public relations used in area communication, promotion and reputation. However, for use in reputation, public relations Banten use informative approach. Ideally, an increase in reputation using persuassice approach will be more appropriate. This study results are expected to contribute to other studies in the future related to the government’s reputation, especially in website media. Keywords: Website, reputation, government public relations, qualitative content analysis.
