Diplomasi Public dan Soft Power Amerika Serikat Kontemporer : Studi kasus Program Center Stage US

Abstract United States, as a superpower, go through the alteration of foreign policy’s pattern, especially after the change of leadership in 2008. Foreign policy of the United States government put more emphasizes on pacifist interaction among nation and increasing use of soft power, such as the application of international public diplomacy in international interaction. The underlying attitude of that policy is a fact that the new challenges that emerged in the era of globalization cannot always be solved by the uses of hard power. Center Stage is one of the new public diplomacy strategy that conducted by the United States Government, especially U.S. Department of States. This program showed an increase in the attention from nation-state to the importance of state’s soft power. For the United States as a big country, the program would have political purposes and significances, particularly toward the pattern of contemporary U.S. national interests on nation-branding.
