ABSTRACT The crisis economy in Asia 1997, gave a negative impact between Japan and Indonesia trade, including exports and imports sector, Foreign Direct Investment sector and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector declined due to Asian crisis. Japan tried to solve economic problem by making a bilateral cooperation to restore trade relations between Japan and Indonesia. The framework that Japanese offered is Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA). But behind this bilateral cooperations, there are another reasons why Japan make this agreement with Indonesia. Keywords: Economy, Politic, IJEPA, FDI, LNG, Interest
