Tantangan Upaya Penerapan Otonomi Budaya dan Multikulturalisme di Serbia

ABSTRACT The Law on the Protection of Minority Rights and Its Protection 2002 and the Law on National Councils for National Minorities 2009 are the two laws that were made to secure the minorities in Serbia after what they had experienced in Milosevic’s regime. The content of the 2002’s law is talking about the fundamental rights of the minority in Serbia. While the 2009’s law is talking specifically about the rights for national minorities within Serbia to create their own national minority councils, in order to preserve their culture and tradition. Unfortunately, the national minorities have to face some challenges along the process of implementing those laws in Serbia. Those challenges came from problems that was occurred, and is still occurring, in Serbia, especially shown by the response of the majority and the government toward issues regarding national minorities. Nevertheless, some challenges also came from the frictions between the national minorities themselves.
