Politik Luar Negeri Korea Selatan terhadap Korea Utara pada Massa Pemeruntahan Lee Myung-baik

In 2008, when Lee Myung-bak stepped in as the elected South Korea’s President, he expressed his desire to make a change of the direction of South Korea’s policy toward The North becoming more strict. Lee Myung-bak who cames from the conservative group had prepare a new policy called ‘The Policy of Mutual Benefits and Common Prosperity’. However, this policy has not managed to reap the success. The Lee Myung-bak’s administration continued to applied the firm policies as a response to North Korean provocations. These firm policies applied by Lee Myung-bak’s administration are certainly influenced by several factors, both internal and external. Therefore this paper is designed to describe the foreign policies that had been implemented by South Korea towards North Korea during the Lee Myung-bak’s administration and the background behind those policies. The analysis will be based on the theory of foreign policy and sources of foreign policy by James N. Rosenau. The results of this paper shows how the strict policies implemented by Lee Myung-bak have not succeed yet to bring the stable relations between the two countries. Out of five sources that influence South Korea’s policy, Lee Myung-bak’s role is considered as the most important of all. Keywords: foreign policy, south korea, north korea, lee myung-bak.
