This became an important issue in both bilateral relations, not only because of the growing numbers but also because it appears that inflicted impacts both domestically and in international relations. The issue of people smuggling is also often times put Indonesia and Australia on different interests. Indonesia no longer want to serve as a transit point for smugglers who will be heading to Australia. While Australia saw that where Indonesia becomes important, because Indonesia is a buffer for Australia in tackling and resist the entery illegal immigrants to Austalia. However, differences of interest are not always bring country into conflict. As was the case with Indonesia and Australia's people smuggling-related issues. Where the divergence of interests brought Indonesia and Australia to talk to each other and choose diplomatic efforts to address this issue. Both countries have diplomatic efforts through government-to -government and people-to-people by placing the community as one of the spearheads of the success of diplomatic efforts. This diplomatic effort then generate various forms of cooperation. This collaboration then make relations between Indonesia and Australia to be better than before.
