Abstract With small area and lack of natural resources, Singapore focused on economy development especially tourism sector with the direct purpose of gaining foreign exchange and other benefits from tourist arrivals. Singapore Tourism Board (STB) then focused on business tourism through MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition) sector. Since 1982, Singapore has been the top convention destination in Asia and today ranks among the top ten in the world. This success is a result of Singapore government’s effort in the development of MICE tourism sector which can be seen from two levels of the domestic and international level. Both levels focus on the conditions inside the country and aimed to attract foreign tourist. This thesis will explain the success of Singapore’s MICE tourism sector development.
