The high level of illegal immigration is one of the main problems in U.S. Many illegal immigrants slip across U.S. borders or enter ports with fake document. National debates have been occuring both about immigration in general and illegal immigration. These debates involve economic, cultural, and environmental arguments. The goal of Congress in the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986 was to reform U.S immigration policy. IRCA offered an amnesty to the immigrants and subsequently creating large-scale undocumented immigration problem in U.S. President Barack Obama has a key role in supporting bipartisan efforts to legislate comprehensive immigration reform. This new legislation calls for improved border security, more strict sanctions for firms that hire undocumented workers, and a path to earn citizenship for workers already in the U.S.
