Ilmu Administrasi Negara)ABSTRACT The objective of the research is to try to reveal the factor that causing stone carving industry in Tamanagung, Muntilan not develop well especially in marketing. In this study the author will that problem from entrepreneurial aspect, so the theory used will mostly refer to the theory of entrepreneurship that will focussing on entrepreneur characteristics. In this study the authors assume that the cause of the ineffectiveness of the efforts of small scale industries development in Tamanagung is because of the lack entrepreneurial spirit of the entrepreneurs. In this study the authors use the exploratory study method with a qualitative approach. The main source of data obtained through questionnaires and interviews with the selection of interviewees was done by purposive sampling. From the study, it is found that the majority of small-scale entrepreneurs lack the entrepreneurial spirit, to advance their business especially in improving their marketing. So this affect their marketing performance. This is consistent with the assumption that the factor that causing undeveloped marketing of stone carving craft industry in Tamanagung is due to lack of entrepreneurial spirit in most entrepreneurs of stone craft industry in Tamanagung.
