It then brought a result of a series of coup to overthrown the government in Nigeria. Hausas, as the ethnic that got most of the power-sharing oftenly got resistance from other majority ethnics in Nigeria, Hausas and Yorubas. There is also the masquerade culture which is an art of performing that is part of the African traditional values that is still practiced by the Nigerian people. This thesis discussed about the role of masquerade as the way of conflict resolution between the Hausas, Igbos and Yorubas. The analysis is based on the conceptual framework of the African traditional values and conflict resolution itself. The data was collected through qualitative approachment by literature study and ranged the ethnic conflict that was happened between 2000 to 2010 as well as the existence of the masquerade within those three ethnics. As the result, this thesis shows that the masquerade is a way of conflict resolution between those ethnics. Masquerade still actively performed by the Igbos and Yorubas so it gives an implantation of positive values towards the resolution of the conflict between the parties, forms a similar identity through masquerade, as well as the creation of communication that encourage the conflict resolution through masquerade festivals. There are also limitations in the conflict resolution process that caused by the absence of implementation of masquerade by the Hausas and the existence of masquerade perfomance that keeping the negative stereotypes of the Hausas.
