2013 | Skripsi | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalABSTRACT In 1990, the Swedish government under Ingvar Carlsson administration from the Social Democratic Party indicated his intention to join the European Union after more than three decades being one of the neutral countries that was reluctant to engage in the European integration related to the incompabilities of the Swedish policy and national identity with the European Union's institutional characteristics. Although the reorientation was made linearly with the end of the Cold War and the severe economic crisis that hit Sweden in the early 1990, public opinion and political parties considered to have significant roles in influencing the government's decision to change Sweden foreign policy towards the European Union since domestic politics seen as an important source to explain the behavior of states internationally.
