ABSTRACT The researcher’s background of choosing nginduk to investigate the socioeconomic relation in Kenagarian Ranah Palabi, Dharmasraya, West Sumatera transmigration area is because of the cultural mores diversity. The cultural mores diversity between the Javanese society and the Minangese society emerged because of the transmigration in Kenagarian Ranah Palabi. The phenomenon burst shows that there were Javanese society members who did the nginduk toward the Minangese society, which obviously has different cultural mores. The phenomenon above congregates two problems formulation. First, by what reason do the Javanese society did the nginduk toward local ethnic society. Second, what the socioeconomic relation among both tribes become after the nginduk process. This research uses George H. Mead’s Symbolic Interactionism theory and the Plural Society theory by J. S. Furnivall. Researcher applies qualitative method and qualitative approach to conduct the research. To collect the data, researcher uses four data gathering techniques. First is in-depth and open response interview. Second is the observation, which is aim to portrait the research environment condition. Then, document as the secondary data taken during the research. Finally, the last process is the data analysis. The result of the research shows there are two kinds of nginduk done by the Javanese toward the Minangese. The first one is nginduk that occurs from the intertribal marriage. Second is nginduk that originates by the individual desire out of wedlock. Both issues above assembled the socioeconomic relation among the plural society in the transmigration area. This research concludes that Nginduk is a part of Minangese’s cultural mores. However, the existence of transmigration has made the Javanese society adapted to the Minangese society cultural mores. Culture adaptation done by the Javanese emerged because of some considerations. The Javanese need to unify and be part of Minangese society in order to initiate the socioeconomic relation.
