Analisis Penyebab Perang Sipil (1991-2002) di Sierra Leone

This study is aimed at providing evidences that natural resources and civil war are possibly correlated. To support this statement, Sierra Leone is being chosen as an example of this phenomenon, as to explore such mechanisms used behind the resource-conflict relationship. This writing also elaborates the power and involvement of Revolutionary United Front (RUF) in the conflict of civil war decade (1991-2002), using the power to occupy the areas which are rich of Sierra Leone resource, diamonds for financing the conflict activities. This could be said that Sierra Leone’s natural resource, diamonds, mostly played a role in the civil war. Moreover this paper is aimed at determining that the low level of legitimacy that the government had, could give impact to make RUF get the access to do conflictual activities in Sierra Leone when the civil war was occuring.
