Australia’s government tend to do everything to make sure that their country lies in a secure region. South Pacific is the nearest region to Australia. South Pacific is a important region to Australia, the countries in this region is a rich country in their natural resources, but they don’t have an infrastructure to maximize it. Moreover, the political situation have to be more considered so it isn’t become a threat for Australia’s security. Fiji is a potential country and have a good economy but unstable political condition. There’s a four times military coup that held in Fiji which can be lead to a domino effect. John Howard, as an Australia’s Prime Minister see there is a need to immediate action to stop the military coup in Fiji. Howard felt Australia has a big responsibility to spreading a democracy things and maintain the peace stability in this region. The foreign policy towards Fiji which is issued by Howard is a correlation between Australia’s national intereset and a strategy based on the principal of Australia’s foreign policy. Economic, politic, and security are the most important thing of Howard’s policy towards Fiji. According to this, Howard saw this condition through his own personal characteristics that could affect to Australia's foreign policy towards Fiji.
