This study was conducted to see how detik.com constructs discourse of news coverage in land transport accidents during arus mudik and arus balik Lebaran 2011. Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis is used to reveal the reality behind discourse of news coverage in land transport accidents by detik.com during arus mudik and arus balik Lebaran 2011. This study used text as a entry is then performed an analysis of the text itself, discourse practice, see the sociocultural practice, and see the order of discourse. This four processes described by Fairclough is seen how detik.com constructs land transport accidents cause stress on the users and operators, not the regulator. Discourse is constructed through a variety of editorial errors, editorial policy, the selection of facts and sources that become source of news coverage in land transport accidents during arus mudik and arus balik Lebaran 2011 in detik.com.
