The changing of international politic in earliest 1990 gaves significance influences toward Kazakhstan, they are freedom from dependence on or control by Uni Soviet and choose democracy as part of political system. However, as the Soviet system collapsed, clans -informal identity networks based on kin or fictive kin bonds- emerged as political actors. Because of that, clan politics –the politics of informal competition between clans- has had profound effects of political trajectories of these regimes, especially toward democracy practice. It highlights the participation, liberalization, and the competition between the political contestant. Therefore the thesis will explain how clan politic used by the elite and its impact on democracy practice in Kazakhstan, a country in the central Asia region. High level of clan politic practice in Kazakhstan heavily effect democracy life. So, it will be interesting to explore this issue. This thesis will tell us how the elite used clan politics to get their power and its relation with democracy practice in Kazakhstan. Keyword: clan, politic, clan politics, democracy
