2011 | Skripsi | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalThe rise in the number of asylum seekers makes an immigration policy become an important agenda and great debate in Australian goverment. That condition also influence two major political party in Australia (Australia Labor Party and Liberal Party of Australia) to use asylum policy for compete each other as their objective for winning the federal election. For many years, Australia has been resulted some asylum policy with different approaches. It happened also in the era of Howard and Rudd who gave different responses to the implementation of the policy. Some of Howard goverment policies, such as the Pasific Solution and restricting Australian borders could made him success as Prime Minister for a long time. Meanwhile, other policies that ruled by Rudd goverment such as end of Pasific Solution and more opened asylum policy, sucess made him won as Prime Minister. This thesis examines the development of asylum policy in Australia between era of Howard-Rudd goverments and compare both responses for analyse about the factors whose influence their policy making process.
