INTERVENSI KEMANUSIAAN PBB DI DARFUR: MASALAH JUSTIFIKASI

Humanitarian intervention has always been a debatable issue in international relations. In order to end supreme humanitarian emergency caused by gross and systematic human rights violations, study of international relations has put efforts to find a way out to justify the action of humanitarian intervention. This thesis will discuss about how the concept of responsibility to protect brings controversy and debate in justifying humanitarian intervention. To elaborate the explanation, the case of United Nation’s humanitarian intervention in Darfur has been explored. To some extent, there are nations using their sovereignty as a tool to violate the human rights of their people. However, responsibility to protect exists to respond such action.
