PERAN KIM DAE JUNG DALAM PENYELENGGARAAN PERTEMUAN PUNCAK ANTAR KOREA TAHUN 2000

This research is about Kim Dae-jung’s type of leadership and his role on the implementation of the first Korean Summit in 2000. The purpose is to find out how Kim Dae Jung was succeed of bringing North Korea’s willing to sit in one room with South Korea on the Summit in 2000. The writer used descriptive – explanative type of research so that the writer not only describe the event and phenomenon but also explaining the events using theoretical framework. The result showed that personality of Kim Dae Jung has played a big role of his success, shaping his type of conciliatory leadership and led him to carry out the type of policy that the other presidents hadn’t dare to talk about: the Sunshine Policy. Together the leadership and the engagement strategy carried out by Kim Dae Jung made a tremendous success that became a history, the implementation of the first Korean Summit resulting the Joint Declaration signed by President Kim Himself and the Great Leader Kim Jong Ill in the year 2000.
