The main purpose of this thesis is discussing about the correlation between Australia and Indonesia’s cooperation in counter terrorism with the conception of Australia’s regional and security defence. Australia is well – known of its security strategy to tackle all the issues that have a possibilty to threaten Australia’s territory and interest. One of the issues is terrorism. Australia sees that terrorism continues to give a potential security challenge to Australia. The Australian government are ready to do some actions in the fight againts terrorism. Those actions always based on Australia’s defence and security policy. Australia still gives a high concern about regional stability, how to protect the region from threatening issues. That’s why Australia cooperates with Indonesia in combatting terrorism because Australia sees Indonesia as one of the most important partner who has been succesfully fighting terrrorism in its own territory. In sum, there will be two focuses in the research. First, it will explain about Australia’s security concept. And second, it will answer the question ‘what is the correlation between Australia and Indonesia’s cooperation in counter terrorism with the conception of Australia’s regional and security defence’.
