KEBIJAKAN PEMERINTAH SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO DALAM MENANGANI PERMASALAHAN CHILD TRAFFICKING (PERIODE 2004-2009)

As one of the developing countries with a high number of child trafficking, Indonesia is working to improve the handling of child trafficking. In the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the government of Indonesia Finally constructs a policy that is specifically arranged the handling of trafficking in persons, including children and women. The policy was in shape through increased international cooperation such as cooperation Bali Process, General Border Crossing Indonesia-Malaysia, the establishment of legislation for ratification of international conventions with their two additional protocols to the UU RI No. 5 Year 2009 concerning Ratification of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Crime, UU RI No. 14 Year 2009 regarding ratification of Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, and UU RI No. 15 Year 2009 regarding ratification of Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. At the national level, the government formed Draft Law on Handling of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons to UU RI No.21 of Indonesia Year 2007 on the Handling of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons, as well as trafficking task force formed to encourage the implementation of UU RI No.21 Year 2007. In the process, the implementation of this policy is not optimal, so the effort of child trafficking in Indonesia is less effective in curbing the growth of child trafficking.
