KEMENANGAN HAMAS DALAM PEMILU LEGESLATIF 2006 DAN IMPLIKASI BAGI PERJUANGANNYA

Hamas victort in legeslative election 2006 did surprise the world. From this victory, three open question could be addressed as a man focus of this research. Firsh this the decition of Hamas to participate in the elections system which it initially refuses/declined. Second is the reason why Hamas could gain victory in Legeslative Ellection 2006. Third is how this victory influenced the Hamas struggle. This research was conduced in a qualitative method with secondary data from the books, journal, newspapers, the internet and other relevan resources. From this research, it could be concluded that the pressure faced by Hamas and its pragmatic consideration had made Hamas to change its stance about the ellections, from a refusal to an participation in the Legislative Election 2006. Hamas victory was mainly fueled by the voting behavior of the Palestina which was influenced by the social structure formed by sicial class and religion factor. In addition, the Palestina-Israeli conflict was also a significant factor in Hamas victory. Meanwhile, the victory also gave some impact the hamas struggle. Despite of gaining the victory, Hamas was still in a dufficult political possition due to various pressure, especially the Western countries that desired Hamas to mitigate its stance about the Palestine-Israel conflict. This leaded to a shift in Hamas principle: Hamas tends to became more moderate in viewing the conflict after the election. In the other hand by gaining the victory inn Legeslative Election. In the other hand by gaining the victory in Legeslative Election 2006, Hamas had shown the world that its role cannot be ignored either in Palestine politics or in the Palestine-Israel peace proses
