BISNIS DAN MILITER: UPAYA REFORMASI BISNIS MILITER INDONESIA PASCA ORDE BARU

ABSTRACT  The Indonesian Armed Forces’ involvement in economics, especially in business, has been happened since independence struggle era. This involvement then culminated during Suharto’s New Order period. In the post-Suharto era, there are many demands from society to withdraw armed forces’ from their previously active and direct role in business. The Indonesian society wanted their armed forces returned to its traditional military role, to ensure the defense and security of the republic, and also to leave their civilian role. Several efforts to take over all of the Indonesian military business in order to make them back to its conventional professionalism character is not an easy work because there are many problems occurred. Until now, there is no significant result comes from the recent government whereas the time limit to take over all of the military business will over. This paper then would explain about the urgency of military business reform and also about the efforts done by the Indonesian government in rolling out the reform policy.
