2009 | Skripsi | Ilmu Hubungan InternasionalSince tragedy 9/11 happened in United States, the government of United States declared War on Terrorism, which is supported by almost all countries that have a good relationship with the United States, including Australia. Moreover some terrorism actions happen in ASEAN countries especially in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, and Thailand, which are located in the same region with Australia. As a prevention action, Australia made anti-terrorism policy to counter terrorism. The policy consists of Anti-Terrorism Act, giving anti-terror equipment to Australian people, cooperating with other countries to against terrorism, travel warning and pre-emptive strike. ASEAN countries are also being the target of the policy. They give different responses to the implementation of the policy. Some policies, such as cooperate in promoting the region security, are more acceptable for ASEAN countries. Meanwhile, other policies such as travel warning and pre-emptive strike are protested by some of ASEAN countries because the policies give bad impact such as financial loss.
