Strategi Mobilisasi Politik Thaksin Shinawatra

The concern is political mobilization strategy of Thailand’s former Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra. Be fore finally toppled down by military coup,Thaksin had shown his ability in achieving election victories in order to maintain his power. Thaksin put himself as a populist leader. Therefore, the thesis will attempt to answer these questions; How Thaksin Shinawatra mobilizes his political support? Under what circumstances he did succeed, and under what circumstances his effort would be useless and lead to a failure? What Thaksin had done could be explained using the concept of Clientelism. Clientelism refers to political mobilization strategy that proffering of material goods in return for electoral support. While conditions affecting Thaksin’s failure in retaining the power depends on the Patron competition between Thaksin, Political Elites, the King, and the Military. In sum, there will be two focuses in the research. First, explaining the Thaksin’s clientelist political mobilization. Second, arguing the conditions that made it impossible for Thaksin to retain his power.
Kata Kunci : Politik - Thailand
