2016 | Tesis | S2 Magister Administrasi PublikABSTRACT Indonesian government passed series of regulation including Law No. 32 of 2009 regarding the Protection and Management of the Environment and Government Regulation No. 71 of 2014 regarding the Protection and Management of Peatland ecosystem to promote sustainable development of peatland ecosystem. The aim of this study is to determine how does the concept of sustainable development contain in Law No. 32 of 2009 and Government Regulation No. 71 of 2014. This study focus on five aspects; hydrological function, biodiversity, local wisdom, community participation, and the green economy. This research use qualitative content analysis method. The results showed that in general, the Law No. 32 of 2009 and Government Regulation No. 71 of 2014 has adopted the concept of sustainable development. However, the concept of sustainable development does not apply properly in the policy details. From the five aspects above only hydrological functions aspect has concept of sustainable development in the policy details. While the other aspects, such as biodiversity, local wisdom, community participation, and the green economy do not contain the concept of sustainable development in policy details. The study also found that the direction of policies for the protection and management of peatland ecosystems Indonesia mainly contained in Government Regulation No. 71 of 2014 was influenced by the Indonesian government targets to succeed the REDD + program. This study suggests that the government should adopt the concept of sustainable development not only in general policy but also on the details. The government needs to supports the sustainability of peatland ecosystems in all aspects. Keywords: peatland, policy, sustainable development
