Personalisasi Partai Golkar:(Peran Fadel Muhammad dalam Politik Elektoral di Gorontalo

Abstract This study is about the personalization’s strength of the internal Golkar Party, Gorontalo. Personalization in this study refers to the central role named Fadel Muhammad in the internal dynamics of Golkar Party. The personalization’s strength is giving the benefits for the Party. It is proved by the high votes of the Golkar Party in some election held in Gorontalo; Governor Election in 2001, 2006 and 2011, the Regent Election of North Gorontalo in 2008, the Election of Bualemo’s Regent in 2011, legislative elections in 2009 and 2014, the House of Representatives Election in 2014. In New Order era, the centralistic Golkar Party was controlled by one dominant figure at the national level. While in the Reform Era with the political changes that occurred, the Golkar Party is still centralizing and keep distributing the party cadres with high modality to the several areas including Gorontalo to maintain their strength in the electoral politics. The phenomenon of Fadel Muhammad and the Golkar Party in Gorontalo parsed by using the concept of personalization. This study uses qualitative research with case study approach that seeks to reveal the phenomena through the observation, literature, and interview. The datas which obtained by the researcher are interpretative analyzed and described qualitatively. Based on the research and analysis that has done by the researcher, it can be concluded that the personalization of Golkar Party can give the significant effect on the performance of the electoral Golkar Party in the Governor Election in 2001, 2006 and 2011, the Regent Election of North Gorontalo in 2008, the Election of Bualemo’s Regent in 2011, legislative elections in 2009 and 2014, the House of Representatives Election in 2014. The Personalization of Fadel Muhammad created a dependency for the Golkar Party. The presence of Fadel Muhammad is generally caused by the political system, electoral behavior and supported by the weak institutions of Golkar Party and also supported by the social structure of Gorontalo society. Fadel Muhammad in a personalized form of electoral politics is seen in political network utilization, recommendation candidates and as a political magnet of the Golkar Party. This personalization on one hand being a magnet of the electoral Golkar Party, but on the other hand if it is not managed properly, the personalization can be a serious threat to the party.
