ABSTRACT This research focus in practical use of handpone as communication media for selfie on youth in Yogyakarta. Selfie phenomenon , which is quite popular nowadays successfully gained attention on mobile phone user of social media as well as especially on youth people. Selfie which is done by youths when they are using mobile phone can be viewed its intepretation and application. The process of mobile phone’s user in youth to perform selfie in social media such as instagram give certain effects on them. The effects are examined wheter in using mobile phone, performing selfie and its applications in Instagram social media. The result of this research indicate that mobile phone as communication devices for selfie on youth in Yogyakarta can be explained from its applied intepretation by the user in instagram. It can be seen from consumtion instrument, lifestyle and multifunction device. Selfie user behavior, especially in youth people when they use moile phone while taking selfie in instagram is seen through duration level in accessing social media instagram, the amount of selfie, and the amount of selfie photo which be posted, The dynamic of selfie user, especially on youth people is examined through : photo editing supported applications for selfie, selfie photo background and the usage of selfie photo hashtag.
